Oil from the stems and leaves of the plant contain numerous compounds, one of which is Thujone. The parasite fighting properties of Thujone have been used to treat intestinal worms as far back as Ancient Egypt.

Wormwood contains antioxidant properties from a compound known as Chamazulene, which combats oxidative stresses on the body associated with cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s.
